Active Release Techniques ART

Active Release Techniques® (ART®) is a patented, state-of-the-art, movement-based soft tissue technique developed to treat various muscle, tendon, ligament, fascia, and nerve injuries such as:

  • spinal pain
  • carpal tunnel syndrome
  • shin splints
  • shoulder pain
  • sciatica
  • plantar fasciitis
  • knee problems
  • tennis elbow
  • hip pain

Injury causes your body to produce scar tissue, which binds down muscles, tendons, and nerves, preventing them from moving freely. Muscles become shorter and weaker, tension on tendons increases, and nerves can become entrapped, resulting in reduced range of motion, loss of strength, and pain. By combining precisely directed tension with specific patient movements, ART restores these tissues to their optimal lengths.

By integrating ART with Physical Therapy rehabilitation, it is possible to restore normal mobility, flexibility, and strength. This unique blend of treatment styles delivers accelerated recovery times and decreased risk of future injury.

For more information on ART or to schedule an appointment, contact Marci Stevenson, MPT, OCS at 408-356-2800.
